Daily Team Performance

Here's my teams results from last nights games and a quick blurb on each

C- Carlos Santana- 1-3 BA still sucking at .224 but has at least 1 hit in 5 straight

1B- Miguel Cabrera 1-3 1R 2RBI BA .311, hasnt homered in almost 2 weeks. Looking for him to start mashing soon.

2B-Chone Figgins- 2-4 1RBI 1SB BA .229 but slowly rising after a brutal start to the season. can only start to get hotter, at least I hope

3B-Ryan Roberts 0-2 1SB .281 BA has cooled off since his hot streak. 3 for his last 22, might drop him if he doesnt start hitting soon.

SS Elvis Andrus- rained out yesterday

2B/SS-Scott Sizemore- 0-4 1R .233BA hasnt hit much since being recalled. will take some time to adjust, but if he takes much longer I might be forced to drop him

1B/3B-Adam Dunn 4-5 3R 1HR 1RBI - now this is the guy I drafted to hit me 40+ HR's. Starting to heat up a bit as he's hit in 5 straight, 3 of those were multi-hit games

OF- Carlos Gonzalez-rained out yesterday
OF-Jose Bautista- 1-4 1R I have nothing bad to say about him. MVP of my team so far
OF- Michael Bourn- 2-5 2RBI hes finally starting to get on base, which means SB's a plenty
OF-Nick Swisher 1-5 patience is starting to wear thin, he just does not look comfortable up there
OF-Matt Joyce2-2-5 2R 1HR 1RBI-Riding him while hes hot, 2nd night in a row with a HR wont last forever
Util-David Ortiz-1-4 1R 1HR 1RBI 2nd night in a row with a HR for Papi, hoping he can keep the power up.

Swisher Not So Sweet

So when I had my fantasy baseball drafts a few months ago I saw Nick Swisher sitting there in the later rounds and when I scooped him up I thought I had myself the steal of the draft. However, now after 30 games into the season I am starting to second guess myself. After seeing some huge numbers out of him last year including a .288 BA, 29 HR's and 89 RBI's I was willing to take anything close to that this year. Through 30 games hes got a mere 2 HR's and only 14 RBI to go with a .217 BA. I am hesitant to bench him because in a lineup as stacked as the one he's in there are plenty of RBI opporunities to be had. But at some point if he cant get it turned around I may have to send him to the bench or even cut bait with him

Taking a shot on young talent

Cue Eric Hosmer. In the latest call-up the Royals have decided to recall from AAA Eric Hosmer who has gotten off to an insane start batting .525 in 26 games with 3 HR and 15 RBI. I picked him up immediately as he's gotten rave reviews from many scouts and I could use some help in the power category. But is it worth it to take a flier on guys like this who have so much "potential" but might not do anything for a while in the big leagues? I dropped a guy on my bench who wasnt worth much, but how far would you go and what caliber player would you drop in order to get one of these young studs with so much potential?

Bullpen Ruins A Sure Fire Win

This is one thing I see so often but cant stand it when it happens to one of my starters! So I had CC Sabathia last night rolling along throws 7 innings of 2 hit ball and leaves the game with a 4-0 lead. He hands it over to the bullpen only to see himself get a no decision. It especially stinks because the league I have him in has a Games Started maximum. So it pretty much feels like a waste of a start, outside of a nice WHIP and 0 ERA it doesnt do much good. Im confident this wont happen too often as Rafael Soriano is usually pretty solid, but only time will tell. On another note, I just read that Adam Dunn had an appendectomy last night and is out for a little while. Injuries are starting to pile up and we're only 4 games in!!!

The injury bug bites already

So at my draft in a 7 team league I get pick #6. Now the last few years I have watched Ryan Braun closely and seen the kind of numbers he has been putting up. He doesnt seem to be slowing down and I really wanted to get him this year. Not knowing if he'd be there at #6 I held my breath until it got to me. He was still available, but could I pull the trigger on it? I thought to myself there is a ton of depth at the OF position, so maybe I should grab a 2B (Cano) maybe a 3B (Longoria) because theres not much depth there. So after debating I took Evan Longoria, who I also had last year. Well that backfired big time as I saw him get pulled early in the 2nd game of the season, and now read that hes out for at least 3-4 weeks with an oblique injury. Guess I should have gone with my first instinct. And now im struggling to find some sort of 3B replacement for the short term (and i stress hopefully short term).

Greetings

Welcome to my new blog, this is a place where anyone and everyone can vent/rant/rave about their fantasy teams and players and who's performing well, whos perfoming horrible and so on and so forth. Often I find myself analyzing my teams and looking for advice on who to add/drop/trade. I figured what better way than to have an open forum for people to share their ideas with each other.
